Rachelle Andrus joined the Vanguard faculty in 2011. Her areas of expertise are comparative politics and political philosophy, with a special focus on lesser developed countries. She teaches World Civilizations and U.S. Government, as well as International Relations, Comparative Government, Politics and Poverty and several special topics classes focusing on the Middle East and Africa. Her research interests include foreign aid and decolonization, sovereignty and international law, and the merging of classical political philosophy with current studies on poverty and politics in young democracies.

Dr. Guerra joined the Vanguard faculty in 2005. His scholarly focus is American Politics, Constitutional Law, and Political Philosophy. He teaches classes on the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Presidency, Constitutional Law, Natural Law, Film and Politics, and Political Philosophy. He is nearing completion of a forthcoming book, entitled Perfecting the Constitution: The Case for Article V and Formal Amendment, which will be published by Lexington Books. He has served in California State government as a member of the California Student Aid Commission and the Post-Secondary Education Commission. Dr. Guerra also serves as the Pre-law advisor as well as the advisor to Pi Sigma Alpha, the political science honor society.

Dr. Marley’s focus is American Religious History with an emphasis on the Christian Right and modern evangelicalism. He teaches a wide variety of history classes including Ancient Greece, The Civil War, American Religious History, Colonial America, Research Methods, and the very first class dedicated specifically to the History of Disneyland.  His first book Pat Robertson: An American Life was published in May 2007 and he has appeared several times on The History Channel.

Dr. Wilson joined the Vanguard faculty in 1989. He teaches a variety of American history topics. including U.S. History, World Civilizations, Women in American History, The Good Old Days, Contemporary U.S., U.S. Military History, History of Baseball, Twentieth- Century Europe, History of England, Vietnam War, World War II, and Historiography. An active scholar, he has published several books, including The History of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics; A New Research Guide in History; Turbulence Aloft: The Civil Aeronautics Administration Amid Wars and Rumors of Wars, 1935-1953; Herbert Hoover and the Armed Forces; and Forging the American Character: Readings in United States History. His scholarly writings cover topics such as aviation history, military history, baseball history, and the history of American foreign policy. His most recent book is Jackie Robinson and the American Dilemma (Pearson Longman), which appeared in January 2009.

Mike Wilson

Dr. Wilson joined the Vanguard faculty in 1998. His specialties are United States history, Chinese history, and Sino-American relations. He is particularly interested in the history of Christianity in China—including the history of foreign missionaries to that country as well as the development of the indigenous Chinese church. Dr. Wilson teaches World Civilizations and upper division courses in U.S. and East Asian history. He leads teams of Vanguard students to China periodically in the summers. His first book, America’s False Friend: Americans, Chiang Kai-shek, and the Nationalist Revolution in China, will be published by Lexington Books in 2011. He serves as advisor to Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society.
